Euphorbia cylindrifolia ssp. tuberifera is a rare, compact, Madagascan succulent prized for its sculptural form and unusual growth habit. This subspecies develops a thickened, tuberous caudex from which it produces low, sprawling arms lined with narrow, cylindrical leaves. The result is a miniature, abstract landscape—equal parts quirky and elegant. Small, bright yellow cyathia (flowers) appear seasonally, adding a subtle pop of color.
Native to the dry, rocky regions of southern Madagascar, it prefers bright light, excellent drainage, and infrequent watering. Allow the plant to dry thoroughly between waterings, especially during cooler months. A gritty mix suited for caudiciforms or xeric euphorbias will keep the roots happy. With time, the tuber enlarges and becomes increasingly exposed, making the plant even more striking.
